And the silence…its finally broken

paul.e.dearment.jr| February 28, 2007 9:44 pm

Its been a while since I have had a moment to update my blog about things. I guess I kinda go in cycles. on blogs. Well lets see, so what is new since the last time I posted on here.

  1. I went home for Christmas break. Got to play Monopoly with the family. Got to see a drunk act stupid because he was loosing in the game. (which almost started a fight)
  2. Broke down and bought a george forman grill. I haven’t had a chance to use it, but thats ok. I know I will be able to soon.
  3. Took some of the guys from the youth group to a concert. It was a good concert. I love concerts. But, I needed to back away from the fronts of the stages because I don’t like mosh pits and my ears need to retain some of their hearing.
  4. Trying to decide what to do with my vacation time. Anyone got any good ideas?
  5. Studying for some certifications. This is what I have put on my plate right now:
    1. Microsoft DCST(two tests)
    2. Microsoft XP Installation and Administration(all tests upgradeable to Vista certification)
    3. I’m studying security+ on my own. I bought the book and will do that once these are don.
    4. Bryan eventually wants us to do the HelpDesk Institute certification. That should be fun.
  6. Im crazy because I am takign the last two courses for the program I am in in PGS at the same time, this way I can walk this May and graduate sometime this summer.
  7. Looking at maybe getting another degree after I finish this one from another place. I’m thinking maybe something along the lines of….oh I don’t know….network security
  8. Trying to figure out what to do with one random vacation day. When should I take it? Hmm. I don’t know!

Well, that is the main list of things that are going on right now. Im sitting right now in front of the tv watching Star Trek:TNG. And I’m also enjoying the lovely time in Windows Vista. Windows Vista. Its….interesting, and kinda new. But, I can’t say if it is really that much more secure than XP. Yes, It is programmed to be more secure. BUT! It assumes that the user is smart enough to know how/why the UAC is prompting them and what will happen if they allow it. It is that assumption that causes the problems. Because, honestly, no matter how much we wanna believe users are awesomely smart. But with Vista, you are able to fine tune the control of power usage on batteries as well as wireless and other networking usage. I was on the track to getting close to 8 hours out of my two batteries. That made me excited, as before I would have some difficulty ensureing that I would get 4 hours. :-D

Other things that I am doing right now is finalizing documentation on hardware independent imaging. This has become one of my pet projects after Bryan said one day how it was looked at one day, and needed to be looked at again because it was going to be needed for stuff coming up. So yeah. I took that on as my little pet project is now complete. It works. The same image can be sent to both dual core and singal core precessors. AHHHH. Now, just to finish documentation on how it was done(will be on armentpau.com) and then post it. I’m just once voice in the many on how to do it, but I do it on slightly older software, and with many positive results.

Anything else new? Using Rukus. Using office 2007. Wrote a plugin for wordpress for my church’s website to help with the posing of music files. Hmm.. Yeah. Nothing else much new other than that. I just have one question for you though. DO you actively care that I don’t have anything else, or passively care?

I promise!
