So I was definatly bored one day and just took this picture to suprise her. Well, as you can see, this picture turned out pretty good. I think just for fun I should upload pictures once in a while. LOL. Yeah, I should. LOL

Guess who gets to post!

Lets see here. Tomorrow I have to go to work at 8 in the morning. Have to get my car to the hanson center parking lot before I go to work. And also have to do other fun things as well to keep my life interesting tomorrow. Spent part of the day today just doiing paperwork and catching up with some friends. Man, how I love just having time to chill. On another note, class was cancelled yet again! WHOO HOO

Wanna know…

Wanna k now what happens when you take a major computer geek and then take away his computer for a period of….almost a week? You get ME! I have been without my computer since Wednesday, and thanks to Drew’s little “Paul exploded it” message on my computer, they didnt know what to do until Friday. Oh boy. DREW!!!!

Anyways. Last night I was in one of those “I have to program” modes, and since I didnt have a computer I got out a slab of paper and started to pseudo-code it up on the paper. I wrote down the entire decoding procedure for my new encoding method when I then realized I hadent made up an encoding procedure that I know would work. DUH! SO I had to scrap that and come up with a new one. I am currently working on it. So far I have this. Its 128bit, based on a combination of 9 +/- combinations as well as a combination of 9 “sequence” modifiers which orientates the data in nine different patterns. I know what I am getting myself into, and it will be a while before I am able to get the encodign scheme up and working properly again. It will take some time before I am able to test it out too, I dont have a computer until tomorrow night, and then I will want to do some other things on it, not program right away at first, although there is nothing wrong with programming. Man, if I only I could overcome some of the problems with dynamic encoding, I think it would be allright. Wait a min….hmmm……I think I just got an idea. What if?????????

See ya all later, time to go put my idea on paper and see how it fares

I know this is weird…

One of my good friends just informed me that he is starting a blog. So. I thought I would post the link to it for anyone that actually reads this. and don’t ask me what his name is, I promised him I wouldnt tell anyone. I will give this warning though, some adult material might be covered, but if anything, this will be for the (hopefully) ultimate good of the person who reads it. It isn’t worthless matterial which causes a degregation in the person, instead it is hopefully there to help. I talked to him already and although its hard to listen to what he has to say at times and sometimes it might seem a little pornographic at times—it has some good points to it and worth it. Especially if you are a guy. I really think you should check out the site, so here is the link: http://fightingdaily.blogspot.com/

Mr. IT finally did it….

A couple of days ago(Wednesday night to be exact) I was all happy. I had re-discovered my lovely gift card from my aunt to Best Buy and I was bored. Bored, thats the story of my life at times. Anyways. I was bored, and I was going with some guys down to Best Buy to help them choose out a piece of hardware to add onto their computer, and while I was down there decided to see how much a season of M*A*S*H would cost me on DVD. Turns out it was like 25 dollars, so with my 15 dollar gift card I was able to easily aquire my lovely sixth season of mash for a meer 10 dollars. Oh how my heart was joyful(in case you havent figured it out, I love MASH, the reason being that at times its so stuipid and whimsical that you cannot not love it!) But anyways. I come back to the room, after riding in Adam’s car back to the dorm and pop in the DVD. Processor power went skyrocketting up to 100% on the DVD software. I was totally perplexed about why it would do that…there was no reason for it to do something like that. So figuring that it was probably a fluke in the MS operating system(I think it had been about three days since I had done a full reboot of the system) so I decided to reboot it. Nothing unusual heppened there……like it ever does. Anyways, login prompt came up, and as soon as I logged in and the computer was starting to apply settings….BOOM! The screen turned black, and the computer refused to turn on. Great. Just great. So I look at the time and notice its before ten and grab my coat and walk on down to IS with my laptop in my bookbag. I get there, and Drew is working(Whew—glad it wasn’t Becky) at the desk, so I go in back and grab the little tool we use to remove teh screws from the bottom of the laptop…..there had been times before when a memory stick would get unseated and then would cause the computer not to boot up. I was hopin that this was the case in this situation. So I went in the back, got the tool, and reseated the memory. To no success mind you. So with great sadness I had to turn my computer in to get a new motherboard(MOBO)…::sigh:: Hopefully it will be done today and I hope it wasnt the wireless card, cause if it was……I will cry. But anyways. Besides that, other things have been going good. I got my application for DC for next year. Yeah, last year I was kinda in a bad mood after a while because of the politics of the school, but there is a new person overseeing the DC’s and what not, so I am gonna go in and apply again, and not let last year influence me in any way shap or form.

On another note, I am waiting until they post the opening of the position in network operations. I would like to apply to the job, and hopefully it won’t conflict with the job I currently hold at IS, cause if it did, I would keep the job over at IS, even though the network ops job sounds like a lot of fun and a challenge to do. Its something that I don’t have a lot of experience in, so it would take me a few days to learn it, but then once I do, I’ll be all set to go! Hopefully. I still have to apply….I’m not anywhere near guarenteed for the job, so I just have to keep my head on straight and realize that I might not get it and that if I don’t that it will be ok, if I don’t get it though, I think I would be ok for the rest of the semestere financially speaking, but the fact is that I only have 10 credits this semester…..and the homework I have for most of the classes are just reading…yeah…I have the potential to get bored really fast, and that fact is not good. I cannot get bored, otherwise I know that I will end up finding myself in trouble. ANd that is NEVER good.

Now, what to do for a half hour? Its a lovely half hour before work, and I am done with this blog entry…..maybe I will update my web site?…yeah, I will..

And so it beginns….

Ah, I love the sound of the door alarm bell ringing in the morning. Someone new to the dorm must have accidently went out the fire doors and set off the lovely fire door alarm. LOL. Nothing so nice to wake up to in the morning as that. Its almost like you can’t live in VO and NOT NOT hear those sounds. It would break tradition if every once in a while someone didnt go through those doors. Man, makes me want to laugh. But anyways, finally got my workschedule. Thank GOD! I have enough hours to be able to pay for my bills. Fun things happen over break. First off, I’m back on evensong, secondly I am playing this friday for chapel, third I am going on the 30th down to Mark’s dad’s church to play bass. Man, busy schedule. I love it! Its finally good to be back at school and doing everything that I need and love to do. I mean, I love being busy at times. Ah….nothing like having an unstable system early in the morning. Installing the new Avalon core for Windows Xp. Should be a blast as I go to work and they try to figure out whats wrong with the computer ;-). Well I guess I should get going, work only beginns in an hour, and I got some stuff I need to take care of. Guess for now, I have to sign off. Later

J-Term 2.1

pdearmen| January 11, 2005 12:01 am

“yepperoonies yay ” Thats how my friend responded to the notion that he can amaze everyone all at once. LOL. What a crack up! Over the past month(two?) I’ve started to come to realize the value of good tight knight friendships. And I’ve also grown in what I am focused on and who I am focused on and what I am using as a basis for all my relationships and as the framework for my eventual spouse(if I ever get married)

Today in class….well…it was interesting. Got only three wrong on the test…all of them true/false. WHOO HOOO!

Was teasing Sarah today about what it would be like if becky and her younger brother ever hooked up. I don’t think she liked it all that much, so I will make sure not to mention it tomorrow to her. Just to try and keep the peace. LOL.

Another day of classes starts tomorrow. WEE. My blogs, I realize, have been totally….superficial. That is because I don’t have time to update as freuently as I would like with the time that I used to have. But hey, we can’t all be that deep and creative can we? LOL. Well I guess sleep she calls, so I must not fighet her call and must go and join my brother sheet and sister pillow in slumber land. Later ya’ll!

J-Term Week 2

pdearmen| January 9, 2005 11:55 pm

So here I am, sitting in my dorm. No homework, fully done with my lovely take home test for project management, done with the book(WHOO HOO—ALL 15 CHAPTERS ARE DONE!) and actually……bored. Wow. Never though I would say that. I am bored during a J-Term class. Its not that the class is boring(far from it, its one of the more exciting classes that I have taken in a while) but that I am bored because I have all the material done. ::Sigh:: Oh well. As they say, one bored class is another thing in life that…….wait….no ones ever said anything about it before!

……….

Well I am in class today, and guess what. I am not that bored. HAHA. Dr. Young is a great professor. I actually enjoy his class. And guess what, I might get an A in this one. WHOO HOO. My GPA will go UP!

J-Term

pdearmen| January 5, 2005 10:19 pm

I’m in it for the long haul. J-term is about half way over. WHOO HOOO. Actually my class isn’t that bad. For it being a whole semester condensed into two weeks, it isn’t that stressful. In all actuality, we got out two hours early today, with a take home test! He he he. I love those things. So I came back to the room, took the test, read for tomorrow, and afterwards did some computer maintence, played some DDR, took a shower. And now I am writting on this blog. After I get done here, I am going to start a new pet project of mine. It will be tedious at first, but I will enjoy it. I am going to be buliding a database of spyware registry entries. Why? Just for fun. LOL. Becky, if you are reading this, I am serious. Actually. I am getting sick of spyware on my system. So what am I going to do? I am going to go and make my own kinda rudamentry spyware scanner. I don’t really need it to tell me all the ones I have or ask if I want to delete them, I just need it to delete them. LOL. Actually. If I get a little ambitoius this could be my new pet project that would be sweet. Hmmm… Am I THAT ambitious?(cause if I wanted it to be super-sweet it would have to be in non .NET c++) I guess this semester will determine that. I will be spending a lot of time in tech support. And when I am not at tech support or class, I plan on getting a second job so that I can help my mom pay off some of her bills and what not. So yeah. I will be busy. DDR and programming will be my stress relivers.

Well, I am back in VO. Its finally happend. I really didn’t care for the apartments that much, but its all good. I would have survived there, its just I am happier here in the dorms. You know how people are always telling you to do what you like? What makes you come alive? Well working with freshmen in the freshmen dorm, getting to know them and just through knowin them and interacting with them influencing them…that is what makes me come alive, that is my calling(at least while in college) that is my passion. Sometimes I think I might have choosen the wrong profession going into computers, but then I forget that even in the computer and buisness field God can still use me. Just because I am not in some official ministry position full time does not mean that all of a sudden God can not work in some way through me. Thats a humbling thought to think that God can use each and every one of us, no matter where we are in life, no matter our job or occupation. That is something that is sweet. There are many parts to the body, and we each have our specific roles to play. That is what is the most awsome thing in the world. One thing I will say though is that I do plan on being involved in a youth group once I get settled into my life(or I decide that I am bored with the way life is going at the current moment….LOL) whereever I end up at after I graduate. There is just something about working with teens that at times brings me alive, but it is not something that I could do full time. I don’t have a) the energy b) the knees c) the knowledge to do it full time with teens all the time. My hat goes off to all youth pastors and those who are going into the youth ministry field. My year+ time as a youth leader out at my old church out here…..lets just say that that was interesting and an eye-opener. Never easy, but always a challenge and enjoying.

Personally, I don’t belive in new years reolutions. They never go the way you want them to go and they are always more hastle than they are worth. So….I am not going to make one….LOL.

Well I should get going, time to program. Have fun you all. I am going to start on a fun project that will take me forever and a day to do!

And the decision is…..
